BakerStreet has called Saddam Hussein an "inhuman monster." The KKK referred to blacks as inhuman (or subhuman). Yes, Hussein was a monster, but he was human. If Baker had added an e, I would agree. I know it's confusing in this day and age to know who deserves compassion and who doesn't, as some of my articles and comments will attest. With all the talk from conservatives that liberals are atheists; with all the talk from conservatives that liberals love tyrants and dictators ...

I didn't put this in the music category because I don't consider rap to be music. Hardly anyone in the Black community would advocate, support or sanction the rape and sexual assault of Black women; yet everyday Black women are being assaulted by Black male rappers, hip hop culture and the recording industry that condones, supports and profits from it. From the lyrics on the radio to the videos on the tube, Black male rappers engage in an aural and visual assault on the minds and bodie...

The URLs are to the lyrics only. #5 "Sleigh Ride" by the Ronnettes. Not really a Christmas Song. It never mentions Christmas. It's a winter song. But with Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound", Ronnie's voice and the orchestra, it grabs me every time. http://www.41051.com/xmaslyrics/sleighride.html #4. "The Marvelous Toy" by the Chad Mitchell Trio. Supposedly, it's also been recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary. I don't think I've heard their version. Not really a Christmas song, either, but like ...

I watch Bill O'Reilly kind of frequently and sometimes I even agree with him, but Nancy Grace and Glenn Beck are obnoxious, abrasive, self-righteous, and (at least in Beck's case) paranoid and condescending assholes. What makes me happy about this is that the obnoxious jerks are Conservatives. Some Conservatives are upset about "Happy Feet." (Glenn Beck seems to be leading the pack on this.) Kids don't care about politics. Let them enjoy the movie, for Christ's sake. But no, some jerks ...

In the movie "Clueless", Cher (Alicia Silverstone) says, "Even if they took out all the violent shows, people could still see the news." I agree. The violence in TV shows and movies is phony. Phony weapons, phony blood, phony dead bodies. The violence on the news is real. Real weapons, real blood, real dead bodies. Which is more disturbing?

The recent shooting of three black men in Queens, New York by five cops has ignited outrage from the families and community leaders. Leo Terrell (I'm not sure about that last name) was on MSNBC this morning, and man, was he pissed, and rightly so. Here are two of his comments: "Every time black people are shot by police, somehow it's always justified." "Prosecutors need police, so they don't prosecute police." Mayor Bloomberg has called the use of force "excessive." It's been repo...

LOS ANGELES — O.J. Simpson will tell FOX "how he would have committed" the slayings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in an interview to air later this month. Simpson, who was acquitted of the crimes in a 1994 criminal trial, agreed to an "unrestricted" interview with book publisher Judith Regan. The two-part interview, titled "O.J. Simpson: If I Did It, Here's How It Happened," will air Nov. 27 and Nov. 29. "O.J. Simpson, in his own words, tells for t...

In the last couple of days, there's been a news report and video showing fathers fighting at a pee-wee football game. The kids are 5 and 6 years old. The talking heads say things like, "What kind of message does it send to the kids? It tells them that violence is the way to solve problems." Football is a violent sport. WTF do they expect? People get worked up. It seems kind of hypocritcal to me to criticize violence in a violent sport. I know none of the kids were fighting, but when older ...

Emily Gillette, 27, of Santa Fe, N.M., filed the complaint with the Vermont Human Rights Commission late last week against Delta Air Lines and Freedom Airlines, said her attorney, Elizabeth Boepple. Freedom was operating the Delta flight between Burlington and New York City. Gillette said she was discreetly breast-feeding her 22-month-old daughter on Oct. 13 as their flight prepared to leave Burlington International Airport. She said she was seated by the window in the next-to-last row, h...

This has nothing to do with God, Satan or religion, so if you want to be part of that sort of discussion, well, sorry. Boredom makes people do strange things. How many of us would be here as much as we are if we had more important real life stuff to do? Are we Internet addicts? I admit there have been times that I posted comments I didn't really mean because I was bored and I wanted to get replies and keep the conversation going (Mostly about chivalry and a vulgar offer). I wanted to be...

There's been quite a lot written (mostly if not completely by right-leaning people) that celebrities are vain, out of touch, pampered, etc. Let's look at the list: Ronald Reagan Arnold Schwarzenegger Sonny Bono Fred Thompson Clint Eastwood All were elected on the Republican ticket. I can't think of any Hollywood celebrities who have been elected as a Democrat. Then there was the circus sideshow in California when the role of Republican Governor was up for grabs. The casting call ...

There's no mention of the religiousness of the complaintants, but what other reason could there be? Damn Nazis. By RALPH BLUMENTHAL Published: September 30, 2006 FRISCO, Tex., Sept. 28 — “Keep the ‘Art’ in ‘Smart’ and ‘Heart,’ ” Sydney McGee had posted on her Web site at Wilma Fisher Elementary School in this moneyed boomtown that is gobbling up the farm fields north of Dallas. But Ms. McGee, 51, a popular art teacher with 28 years in the classroom, is out of a job after leading her ...

It's not easy to think of something to say about Hendrix that hasn't already been said many times, but I'll try. If people from other planets are visiting Earth, Jimi Hendrix must have been one. Never mind that he sometimes burned and smashed guitars. That's not what aspiring young guitarists try to imitate. If that's all it takes to become a guitar god, there would be many, many more of them. From a Frank Zappa song about dead rock stars: "If you listen to the radio and what they p...
